June. It’s amazing that it’s already June!
With this month comes a whole new crop of young adults starting out the rest of their lives. It’s such an exciting time, and yet melancholy too. Not only for the new graduate but for family and friends. So many decisions to make for the future, career paths to be pondered and pursued. Should you go to college? Who will pay for that and how? It’s an entirely new set of rules you will be living by now, your own!
Make the best of those decisions, they are yours to make. I for one respect you for what you have accomplished, it’s been a long road. Parents of course cannot believe how quickly those years went by, but for you they have dragged. Especially the last couple of weeks, right?
As you taste your new freedom, keep in mind these thoughts. There are a lot of people out there who love you and want to help you follow your dreams, to make them a reality. Accept their advice in the light it is given, or at least give it true thought.
Be prepared for some of the bigger responsibilities that come with your new freedom. Party? Absolutely. You need to have fun, it’s what you have been waiting for, after all. Just do it smart.
You have earned your right of passage, from dependent to independent. That means something. It can be pretty scary and exhilarating all at the same time, just remember that all of the generations before you have made it, and you will too.
More will be expected of you, both from your family and society. As far as I’m concerned, you’re up to the challenge!
I’m proud of you, hat’s off for your accomplishment. Now go get ’em, tiger!
